Video Wednesday
Last Saturday I had to go to UCLA to have some blood drawn for a followup doctor’s visit. I don’t go to the Westwood area much these days. Since my blood had to be drawn on an empty stomach by the time I left the lab I was completely hungry. I decided to brave the rain and make my way down Westwood Blvd. and treat myself to a Persian breakfast at the Pink Orchid Bakery.
While driving down Westwood Blvd. I notice how much this area of Los Angeles has grown and evolved in the 23 years that I have lived here. This area has been referred to as Tehrangeles for as long as I can remember. I thought this video describes the area pretty well featuring the Iranian businesses that have flourished throughout the years. Of course, there is plenty of mentions of food and all the delicious choices available.
This video is by Afshin Gorgin for Voice of America and published in 2006. The video is 9:21 minutes and it’s narrated in Persian.
